X.T. Nelson is the founder and managing member of The Law Office of X.T. Nelson. His focus of law includes Criminal, Personal Injury, Family, Business and Estate Planning. In 2008, X.T. began his studies at Alabama A&M University, where he obtained a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in International Relations. After successfully graduating from Alabama A&M University, he began serving with the YWCA of Central Alabama, as a NCCJ “Building Communities, Bettering Lives” AmeriCorps member, where he completed two terms. His experience as an AmeriCorps member provided him with the opportunity to work for the United Way of Central Alabama as a Sponsored Loaned Executive, raising funds for the 2014 Campaign, with Cadence Bank being his largest account. Shortly after working for United Way of Central Alabama, he began working at the YWCA in Marketing and Development, this time as an employee, helping to raise funds for and organizing major fund-raising events, such as Purse and Passion and Kid’s Korner.
In the Fall of 2015, X.T. relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he began his legal studies at Southern University Law Center, as a first-generation law student. During his matriculation at Southern University Law Center, X.T. had the honor of serving as the Recruitment Committee Co-Chair under Andrea Love, providing him with the opportunity to recruit students and assist them in making decisions pertaining to their post-undergrad and law school careers. He also served as the Student Bar Association Vice President and was hand-picked to work as the direct law clerk for the sitting District Attorney of East Baton Rouge Parish. After obtaining his Juris Doctorate, X.T. relocated to Washington D.C. where he worked for Giffords as an Engagement Manager, traveling to form grassroots coalitions and work with other organizations against gun violence, to bring awareness to the issue. After his tenure at Giffords, he moved back to Birmingham, where he worked closely with Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham and as a Legal Assistant for the Earle Law Firm, LLC.
X.T. is licensed to practice law in the state of Alabama. He currently resides in Birmingham.
